Ancestors

The Kennedy family originally came from Dunganstown, County Wexford, Ireland.^[258] In 1848, Patrick Kennedy left his farm and boarded a ship in New Ross bound for Liverpool on his way to Boston.^[259] It was here he met the woman he was to marry, Bridget Murphy.^[260] Patrick Kennedy came to Boston, took a job as a migrant worker, and died within eight or nine years, of cholera.^[261] He left behind a widow and children to carry on.
